Best Crit Bike? Looking for opinions:
What is the best crit bike currently available (non-James Frame that is)?
By crit bike I mean ultra stiff, extremely agressive design, somewhat durable, etc.
Thanks

If you're not going to go with the James Frames, I'm not sure why you wouldn't but if your mind is made up, then you may want to consider the Primus Mootry. I think custom for sure because you can dial the frame in for your size, weight and power profile. Anything easton ultra light will be very stiff and very durable. Unless you're very lucky, mass production bike are not going to fit you correctly or corner as well as a custom jobber as the those bikes are made for the average and can't be as aggressive as something that you spec out.
So now you have the opinions of three guys that are not known for their crit prowess.

best crit bike I ever owned was the giant aluminum tcr 0 from 2003
compact geometry and stiff as hell. I raced that bike when I weighed 225 with 27 inch thighs...never broke!! someone stole it or I would still be on it and not on my 4th FELT.

The best crit bike is whatever Huggins rides.

Curios...
Why is everybody dissing James Frame on the forum... the open forum? Are you guys retarded? Did I miss something. Did JP do us wrong?
And, yeah, Doug is right. Custom is good, because not only can you get all of what Doug says, you can also get something setup with the cornering characteristics that you want. Steep angles, short wheelbase... blah blah blah.

Who dissed?
kilgore- 08-20-2008
Reading Huggy's post again, I think he meant, other than James Frames. I didn't see anybody else say anything negative. JP has worked hard to provide us with some nice frames.
heavycranks- 08-20-2008
no one dissed at all. Huggy just wanted opinions on different frames people have ridden for crits. I have never been on a James Frame so I do not know. of the 5 frames I have owned GIANT is the best for crits
FELT is light and responsive, but not made for the heavycranks rider...too week in the bottom bracket 3 have went back to the factory with cracked chainstay at the bottom bracket!

CUSTOM. Period - because it corners better and you can dial in the stiffness however you want.
