Salida Podium Great work down at Salida Aaron Bachik! Climbing onto the first step of the podium, nicely done. I'm starting to expect that kind of thing from you at every race that actually requires strength, power and endurance.
The forecast for the HART 3s for 2009 is looking better every day. Bachik is close to upgrading. Appleby is showing real promise. Last week we brought on a ringer by the name of Drew Christopher. A ridiculously strong rider that just upgraded after finishing second to Keith at Longmont. You put these guys into a squad that already has some really great power, depth and experience and you got BAT wrapped up by April.

Aaron, awesome man! Salida is definitely one of the hardest races of the year.
Don't forget that when some of us older, slower Cat3's who don't really race anymore retire the entire group should get stronger - it's like the Buffalo theory or some thing...

Way to stick it to em Bachik!

Here:
Cliff's Buffalo Theory
This is credited to an episode of Cheers in which Cliff explains to Norm the 'Buffalo Theory':
"Well you see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as
the slowest buffalo and when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones
at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a
whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by
the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain
can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive
drinking of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and
weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates
the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And
that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

But if the buffalo theory is applied to the Cat 3 squad, in less than a week the only guy left will be huggins...Wait isn't that the case now?
kilgore- 07-31-2008
What are you talking about? The 3s had at least 5 guys at Salida, Appleby, Drew, Huggy, Jordo and Burnett. Just because you're not racing doesn't mean everybody else isn't.
kilgore- 07-31-2008
by the way, if I'm not coming down with a cold like I think I am, I will probably do 35+ on Sat.
los- 07-31-2008
You guys should all team up and race the 35+ at our race, put 15 guys on the line, and no excuses for not putting someone on the podium, or Doug, in his last action as team captain, will kick you off the team.
mikee- 07-31-2008
don't forget about michael hanna at salida.
and doug is not team captain. only team accountant.
heavycranks- 07-31-2008
I am looking forward to 35 + so we can win 3 state crit championshops. If every masters racer has this goal in mind, even the smallest shor-*test*-('") effort can be used to achieve that goal. I mean hell its free...Get in for 3 laps of all out hell and pull out at the corner you agree to marshall!!

Personnaly I think Mr. Hana has some of the best fitness of the 3"s right now. Having No Job will do that to a person who loves to ride.Any course with a hill and he can kick it. Saturday is a day where a tail gunner can make a jump on the long uphill and ride away from the pack. Provided he has 2-3 guys willing to go to the front and block effectively.
Huggins will have all of the hardware removed from his bones. most of the skin grafts have taken hold, so he is in for Sat. If the pack pulls Hanna back with one to go, thats a free ride for Brian!
I promise I will cheer as loud as I can after I quit at the 30 minute mark!
