Training Advice?
Raced at Rist this Saturday and Sunday. Racing at Dead Dog next saturday and sunday. What should I do during the week? I'll need to ride to Golden and back Mon_Thurs, which is about 1 hr each way at a medium pace. Other than that I can pretty much do whatever. Suggestions? I'll start "hey, get a coach" ok. others?

Monday rest. Tueday night CSP race. Wednesday Denver West - and sit in. Thursday rest. Friday openers. For Saturday, be very well fueled and hydrated, make sure you are taking two bottles at every feedzone even if you dont think you need them, you will.

You got a lot of power... From the few times I have seen you climb, you have been in way too low of a gear in my opinion, but I am not an expert in gearing, and don't want to pretend I am, but your climbing reminds me of me 3 years ago, when I tried to power through everything and fatigued quicker. You are a faster climber than I ever was, but my advice is that I am still not a very good climber, but I have learned to spin more on climbs and have fresher legs on the latter part of a climb. You will do well.

Agreed. !! When you weigh 190 lbs you learn what make s you last in the mountains. spin early and save E ( engineer should know what this is). Keep the heavy grear for the attacks. till then work on that...spinning and attacking in a big gear for 2-3 minutes and then spin and try to recover at just below race pace. These intervals all the way up lookout should work, I mean the TOP of lookout. Physical adaptation to training won't occur before Sat., but you can teach yourself your limits at race pace so you know when you are about to POP and aviod it.

Also it will take roughly 72 hours to fully carbload the muscles so give yourself that time. thursday and friday eat and drink and make marry. You are looking at 3 events in a 30 hour period. Be FRESH for the weekend you will last longer!!

Ok. I don't know if I can add anything of value here. Alot of what you should do should be based on how you feel. Assuming you're a little crispy from two days of Rist fun, this is the way I'd go, and I'm going. This week should be a recovery/peak week. You don't need a lot of intensity. Less is more. If you feel anxious about your fitness and you start to get itchy by the end of the week, that's good. Monday - ez ez ez ez ez Medium is too hard. I wouldn't even ride all the way to golden and back, take the bus. Assuming by the time you read this you already rode to NREL, ez ez ez back home. Recovery pace, zone 1 or 2. Tuesday - depends on how you feel. If you're recovered just commute, medium is ok, otherwise, ezezez. Wednesday - 3 - 4 hours, mostly zone 2 on the morning ride. Go zone 2-3 on the ride home. Ride home over lookout and grape vine, get some climbing in. Or you can do the DW ride and ride shorter time. Thursday - Hydrate hydrate hydrate. The riding is up to you, a lot of people do much better with a rest day two days before the event. Others do well with rest the day before. Do about 2 hours, your commute, get in a couple of 20 minute power efforts, sub LT. Friday - Ez with a couple of short hard efforts Also, don't change your riding style at all this week. Next week moving forward, spin to win.

I also suggest drinking a 12 pack of PBR and eating a few sliders the morning of the race.

Hey Bitch , that's my secret!

Don't forget to wack-off like 3-4 times on Friday night before the race. That is what Lance used to do every night of the Tour.

I want to put in my request now that I not share a room with Lucas. I am not down with his all Lance “power” workout routine……. So how does that quote goes “This is my body. And I can do whatever I want to it. I can push it. Study it. Tweak it. Listen to it. Everybody wants to know what I'm on. What am I on? I'm on my bike busting my ass six hours a day. Then about an hour in a French hotel bathroom alone What are you on?
