What is the best time trial tire?
I need a new tubular tire for my disc wheel. What is the best tire and why? Rolling resistance? Tread? Other? Thanks in advance!!

Tufo S3 Lite 19mm. S3 Lite is like Doug - Light, fast, and skinny. tufotires.com biketiresdirect.com ...Are two good websites for tires in general. There is a discount in one of them for buying 10. I usually buy 4 at a time, and may need tires here soon, in case others want to go in. To get the discount, tires don't have to be the same, so we should be good in taking advantage of the discount.

but of course the best place to buy tires is from our awesome bike shop sponsor. Golden Bike shop is on Washingon Ave. on the north side of Golden, and their number is 303-278-6545

Huggy - do NOT put tufo tires on your disk. They are amongst the worst rolling tires you can buy and explains why carlos thinks I'm fast. It's the tire los. It would be like putting General Tires on a formula one. And if you decide you want your tires taped instead of glued, I will have to confiscate all of your fancy gear, the scott, the disk, whatever tt bike you ride. Tape is just that offensive. Go with the veloflex carbon or a zipp tangent. http://www.zipp.com/OnlineStore/Tires/tabid/55/CategoryID/1/List/1/Level/1/ProductID/105/Default.aspx?SortField=ProductName%2CProductName Here is Zinn's list of rolling resistance Tire Crr Deda Tre Giro d'Italia 0.0038 Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX 0.0039 Michelin Pro 2 Race 0.0042 Vittoria Diamante Pro Rain 0.0044 Michelin Megamium 2 0.0047 Pariba Revolution 0.0048 *Veloflex Carbon (Tubular) 0.0049 Michelin Carbon 0.0050 *Gommitalia Route du Nord (Tubular) 0.0050 Panaracer Stradius Pro 0.0051 Schwalbe Stelvio Plus 0.0052 *Gommitalia Platinum (Tubular) 0.0053 *Vittoria Corsa Evo CX (Tubular) 0.0054 Schwalbe Stelvio Evolution Front 0.0056 Continental GP Force (rear specific) 0.0057 Hutchinson Fusion 0.0057 Schwalbe Stelvio Evolution Rear 0.0057 *Vittoria Corsa Evo KS (Tubular) 0.0057 Continental Ultra GatorSkin 0.0058 Ritchey Pro Race Slick WCS 0.0058 Schwalbe Stelvio 0.0059 *Continental Competition (Tubular) 0.0059 *Veloflex Roubaix (Tubular) 0.0059 *Continental Podium (Tubular) 0.0060 Specialized S-Works Mondo 0.0061 Continental GP 3000 0.0067 Hutchinson Top Speed 0.0069 *Schwalbe Stelvio (Tubular) 0.0069 Continental GP Attack (front specific) 0.0073 *Tufo Elite Jet (Tubular) 0.0073 *Schwalbe Montello 300 (Tubular) 0.0075 *Tufo Hi-Composite Carbon (Tubular) 0.0077

Get the Vittoria tires over the Zipps (Vittoria makes the Zipp tires anyways) . . . the dimples do strange things to handing and it is your rear tire which shouldn't see the wind anyways. I've been on the Conti GP4000 tubulars this season and they seem to go faster than Doug's tires.

kilgore- 07-11-2008

Yeah, but not as fast as they used to.

los- 07-11-2008

Ouch... I can always set up the computrainer at the team party if you guys want.

seth- 07-11-2008

That's OK . . . I remember the days when Doug's tires went faster in a time trial. He can still talk all sorts of smack like he did before the Dead Dog TT.

kilgore- 07-11-2008

"Old and feeble" that smack talk wasn't coming from me young one. Just don't forget who the only person to beat you in a TT in 2005 was.
