What size crainring do you run on your fixie?
I am looking at getting my first fixie and was wondering what size front chainring is recommended. Thanks for any input. Cameron

Mine is 48/17. It works fine for tooling around denver. If you ever want to give it a try, feel free.

I've got a 49/16 though my bike came with a 49/15. It's perfect for commuting because I can maintain a higher speed, but it's a bit too big for around town. Depends on what type of riding you're looking to do with your fixie.

I have a 45X18....it's a pretty small gear but I like to spin and for city riding I'm looking for control over speed. Eric is right, it really depends on what kind of riding you want to do.

those are all really great gears...if you're a girl. try an eliptical 56x12 with a chain color matched to your frame. chop some mountain bars add bmx grips and a top tube pad. get the frame a size small so that you can display a lot of seatpost and be sure to get a really dope chrome bag. then and only then will your bike be as cool as it is inefficient... all the chicks will dig your ride and you will be the envy of all of the hipsters with girl haircuts. lol, nice. Yeah, I am mainly going to just use it for commuting. I work pretty close to home. I am checking out a bike today and I have the option if 40, 44, or 48 x16. I am thinking of the 44x16 as a nice balance, but I sure like the idea of getting up to good speeds. I will just have to mess around and see what fits best. Thanks for all your input.

Sova's right, but don't forget deep V's to match your grips, top-tube pad, and chain.

40 or 44x16 would be my vote - spin to win! I would avoid the 48.
