Doing the Gila? I hope you'll join me this weekend, starting Friday.
This flies in the face of Doug Manno. But then again, Doug has never done the Tour of the Gila in late April.
Early season big-ass stage racing means early-season base miling.
I'll be answering any questions you have about the Gila as well.
FRIDAY: Meet at 8:30 am at Starbuck's at the downtown REI
SATURDAY: Meet at 8:30 am at Bang Wash Park
SUNDAY: Meet at 9am at 7310 West Colfax Avenue (at Wadsworth) _________________ The air is thick with flying Fingerbangs |

It's amazing to me, and I don't know why I'm still amazed by this, but I am amazed at how frequently and consistently one person can be wrong. You're like the Dick Cheney of HART.
It's November and it's a perfect time to start your base. Large volume with low intensity with people that can do that and keep it fun. Go slow up the hills and work on strength. Keep the HR down, avoid accumulating lactic acid, newly forming capillaries don't like lactic acid it makes them cry and not develop. It's time to fill the box of matches so don't burn any.
Don't worry about your LT, it will and should drop. It will snap right back in the spring when you ramp up the intensity, I promise. I have never met anybody that did high volume, low intensity for a couple of months and ramped it up later and had a bad season. I've known, and still know, way too many people that are at 70%+ all year round and spend a lot of quality time in the pack with no ability to get out of the pack.
This is just my opinion, I could be wrong. What do you think America? Call 1-800-LACTOSE. |

I don't see where you 2 disagree. I think you two are saying the same thing, but still need to satisfy the urge to argue.
I think you're both wrong. I'm going to go ride base this weekend because I'm right.
I'm in! But I plead that Saturday can be Golden Gate Canyon, peak to peak, Coal Creek. I love that ride and rideable days on those roads are running out. You can ride hills at Endurance/Tempo just as easily as any other terrain. I think its easier actually.

I'll be closing my account with HART today. All I needed was for you to agree with me to check the final box and proceed into the light to the other side. My work here is done. It's been a good ride and appreciate the opportunity to serve and torment.
Don't forget, the Haul'n Ass Race Team is for racers by racers, we race for the good of the team not some prima donna with a sprint, racing is a game not some charitable event that we're just trying to finish, and if you finish in the pack you better have just finished your turn in the winning lead out train, otherwise it's off the front or out the back.

Hi everbody, I used to work here. Guess I still do on occasion.
I would like to get some base in but I imagine your base pace is out of my league. If it's not, God help you!
I'm looking for about a two hour coffee shop tour this weekend (That's not symbolic, much coffee will be drank) if anybody is interested. I'm in bad bad shape so it will be so slow that even Greg Powers could hang. |

Moral lesson for everyone - a guy in bananarepublic, his name is Romario, a pretty good malefigureskating player, retired from the sport, then came back to play in the second division, as he needed 56 more goals to reach 1,000 goals. That didn't happen, and so he joined a team in the 3rd division, then actually came to play for MLS (destination for old, retired, slower, malefigureskating players, by the way), and played on some friendly matches in Florida since those goals would count from a professional standpoint. He eventually got past 1,000 goals.
He then retired for good, but then felt the urge to be involved in the sport again, and so he injected a large amount of money and became the president of this third division team, and eventually the coach. Even funnier, after a few games, he started playing again as coach-player, until he found he his legs no longer could keep up with the young players...
... so many resemblances with Doug, starting with his posts - Mid to high 900's. My suggestion - Don't quit Doug, get to 1,000, then retire, then come back, then retire, than coach the Cat 4 squad, then start riding again Cat 4... you can do it! _________________ “Some kind of happiness is measured out in miles.†|

| This is my second post so I really don't know what you're talking about. Let me give you a word of advise, they call it 'dope' for a reason. |

What is this, I type B-R-A-Z-I-L and it changes to bananarepublic.
I type S-O-C-C-E-R, and it changes to malefigureskating
I typed D-O-U-G, and it changed to Doug, now that is bad, an insult to a friend of mine. _________________ “Some kind of happiness is measured out in miles.†|

| As much as I'd like to reminisce with all you guys that don't race bikes anymore, about a different sport involving effeminate guys in spandex , I'd like to also mention that the Friday morning ride has been moved to 8am. |
